And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD,

choose you this day whom you will serve;

whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood,

or the gods of the Amorites,

in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house,

we will serve the LORD

Joshua 24:15 Message

This Bible verse is reminding us that "we have a choice". Nobody's forcing you to do what you don't want to do. If you decide to go left, fine, if you decide to go right, that's alright.

Some people believe that God is not real or do not simply believe in His Word, and so they don't see any reason to serve Him. So, what this verse tells us is that these categories of people are free to do or believe whatever they want to even if it is clear that their part is damning.

This verse also shows us our true selves, and that no one is truly an independent entity. You would have to one day surrender your desires, belief, values, etc to something or someone. Whatever you believe in all depends on you; whether it is the gods that your fathers served(pleasure, lust, etc), the gods of the amonites to who you have dedicated your life or our true God who will never desert us.

While some people decide to serve the gods of their fathers, make that choice to serve our Father in Heaven, and take your household along. Choose the right path for you and your household today by choosing God and believing in His word.

Prayer

My prayer for you is that God gives you the strength to walk in the right direction at all times and to never go astray from His teachings. Always remember that The Lord is our one and true God that we should only serve.
